Through continued investment and innovation, we aim to meet our commitments and improve upon and reduce our environmental footprint.

HCC has introduced energy, waste, and water reduction targets in pursuit of a net zero carbon plan. This has included the commissioning of an independent environmental and resource efficiency audit of our operating site, to identify pragmatic and deliverable measures to reduce HCC’s energy consumption and carbon emissions as part of a longer-term roadmap of changes that will drive down energy and carbon emissions.

One of the key factors is to consider how we reuse and recycle any materials on site.

We have undertaken a wider review of our environmental impact calculating that the average miles driven by employees daily produces some 120 tonnes of CO2 each year.  To offset this level of CO2, HCC has planted over 330 trees to date and is working with the Woodland Trust to plant 1,850 broad leaf trees over the next three years, as well implementing a cycle to work scheme to counter some the road miles employees cover to attend work.
